LONDRES (AP) — El equipo República Dominicana fue descalificado el jueves en las semifinales del relevo 4×400 de los Juegos Olímpicos, mientras que Venezuela, descalificada inicialmente, fue readmitida y avanzó a la final después que fue aceptada su apelación.
Los dominicanos lograron un tiempo suficiente para clasificarse a la final, pero fueron descalificados de la prueba por intercambiar la posta fuera de la zona reglamentaria en la segunda entrega de carrera entre Félix Sánchez y Joel Mejía.
Su eliminación le otorgó el boleto a Venezuela, pero acto seguido los venezolanos fueron sancionados por una obstrucción de Alberto Aguilar a un relevista australiano.
La reclamación venezolana surtió efecto y el equipo avanzó a la final en el repechaje por tiempos.
